Hello my name is Drew Roop and I am extremely excited to introduce myself to the City of Mishawaka as your new Director of Golf. As I look forward to meeting all of you and getting to know you at the same time, here is a little background on how I got Eberhart-Petro Golf Course. I was born and raised in Marion, IN. During my sophomore year in high school in 1989 my family moved to Mishawaka where I attended Penn High School and graduated in 1992. After graduating, I attended Vincennes University on a golf scholarship and enjoyed playing for the Trailblazers for two years. Following my two years at VU, I transferred to Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC where I majored in Professional Golf Management in order to pursue my passion of becoming a golf professional. While attending Methodist I landed my first assistant’s job in the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area of North Carolina at a course named Hyland Hills Resort. After spending two years at Hyland Hills I decided to return home to Indiana to be closer to my family.
Shortly after moving home I became an Assistant Golf Professional at Morris Park Country Club in South Bend and spent five great years there working for Indiana Golf Hall of Famer Dick Walker. Over the next several years I continued my career at three local clubs – Blackthorn, Swan Lake and Elcona Country Club. After two wonderful years working for Tom Thome at Elcona, I landed my first Head Professional job at Kokomo Country Club and later moved on to the Head Professional position at Greensburg Country Club. All of these roads have led me back home to Eberhart-Petro and I am so excited to be here and to serve the City of Mishawaka!
I’ve been married to my very beautiful wife, Diana for 16 years and we have four wonderful children – Alec, Jordan, Tanner and Peyton. Without a doubt the proudest moment in my life was when my wife gave birth to the twins, Tanner and Peyton, in 2004. Tanner is the oldest by one minute. I am sure you will see both of them on the practice green from time to time.
